Empower Network Banned By Facebook

no_empower_networkWell it was bound to happen, remember all those posts and spammy messages you used to see on Facebook about the Empower Network? You won’t see them anymore because, as of this past week, Facebook has banned any and all references to the EmpowerNetwork. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

If you were part of the Empower Network and you frequently joined in the conversations of the Empower Network Group on Facebook, you got quite a shock on Monday morning when all references to the group and the EmpowerNetwork in general were gone. In fact, if you had any old posts that you put out that referenced the Empower Network domain those posts no longer worked either.

Facebook Rules

Facebook is the largest social media platform in the world and what the owners of Empower Network failed to understand was that you were welcome to use the social network’s platform as long as you played by their rules. After all, it is a public network that required no cost to join and use, but it is owned by a company that can shut you down if they believe that you are abusing their system or not following their terms of service.

So why exactly did Facebook shutdown the EmpowerNetwork!

No one but Facebook knows for sure why they shutdown all access and references to the Empower Network. However, we can certainly make some speculation as to why it happened based on our own experience from within the Empower Network group.

Empower Network Slapped By Facebook

Here is my theory on what happened and why Facebook took the actions they did to cut off all references to the Empower Network.

If you were one of the 35,000 members of the Empower Network group on Facebook you will remember the constant spam on the group. Not only from other members but by the owners of the group, David Wood and David Sharpe, too. The approach that the owners took was to grow there blogging platform as quickly and recklessly as possible disregarding any concerns of what repercussions might occur from their tactics. For instance;

  • Members of the group were constantly urged to create their own Empower Network groups, invite all your friends into the group, then invite other members of the Empower Network organization to join your group and post references to their Empower Network blogs. Many people started receiving Empower Network messages that did not ask to receive them and many people did not know where the messages were coming from or how to get rid of them.
  • The Empower Network owners blatantly encouraged their followers to use Facebook for spamming their messages by providing instructions on how to post, what to post, and when to post it. Effectively, leading their followers to damnation! Imagine if you would have been posting messages all along as directed, how would you feel if your personal Facebook account got shut down!
  • A lot of people put their faith into the Empower Network leaders in the belief that they would direct them to their success by showing them the correct way to master blogging, social media, and Internet Marketing. Instead, what they got was a lesson in “How NOT to promote a business on Facebook”!

empower_network_traffic_20120809What Now?

Network marketers are a bunch of hungry people!

Network Marketers hunger for success and in their zealousness to achieve it, they forget the basic principles and etiquette along their quest for success. Unfortunately, for many people who believed in the Empower Network and followed David Wood and David Sharpe down the primrose path their futures are now uncertain.

Call it a Facebook Slap, Ban, or Shutdown in any terms you use to describe this event, it can’t be good for the Empower Network. If you can’t participate in conversations, run ads, build a Fan Page, or post updates about your business, on a social media website consisting of 1,000,000,000 (that’s billion) people then you are doomed to fail from the get go.

So what’s next for the Empower Network?

Where will David Wood and David Sharpe lead their followers to next. We’ll have to wait and see, but my guess is that the network is probably on it’s way out.

For a website that rocketed to one of the top 500 websites in the world, this is a shame. It will be interesting to check the Alexa rankings for the Empower Network website in a few weeks and see what this Ban has done to there traffic stats, as this will truly tell us what the full impacts of Facebook’s Ban on the Empower Network will be.

  1. I couldn’t agree more. Again it seems that the masses pay for the sins of a few.

Anyway, I am whole heartily recommending Empower Network to everyone I meet.

Also, rumor has it that Facebook may be making an about face and could re-instate all EN Facebook groups and full access. Let’s hope so!

I don’t really remember that EN owners asked the members to spam Facebook!

Empower Network is supposed to be blogging platform. But unfortunately, most people who joined the network, didn’t even bother to make a blog post in the EN platform but instead start sending the affiliate link to thousands of people through Facebook and other possible social media they could think of. This is against the spirit of blogging, I would say.

If half of the EN members used the blogging platform (which is ranked well with high traffic) effectively to promote something they want to, the story would have been different. I am just hopping that the next ban wouldn’t be from Google!
